I never scrutinized my DD-214s when I received them. What I didn't notice was a couple of my awards didn't make it from my service record to my DD-214s.
I had to go to the National Archives, Veterans Records and submit a request for my awards/decorations.
I had done a request before but they just sent all the medals and ribbons. I'm really looking for the entry/dates from my service record.
Just thinking, my DD-214 is only as good as the personnelman that was typing my DD-214. And I see why people dispute their DD-214. That doesn't make it right to white out and type in fake shit.
If I'd known then what I know now, I certainly would have had them correct them when they were issued.
